      • Homework

Reading: every week night for 20- 30 minutes.

Each student has been given the choice/challenge to read one KidBiz article and complete the questions over the weekend.  If you're child is using paper copies (and they know who they are), they should print out their article to complete.  Turn in the completed version on Monday morning, and get a chance to complete the same article online at school.

Here are a few more websites that your child(ren) can work on (if they have access to a computer) on his/her day off from school:

        1)      Order of Operations Game:

        2)      Kid Biz:

        3)      Cool Math Games:

        4)      Compass Odyssey:

      • How can you Help?

        Support Your School!

There are many opportunities for you to support QE! Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions.

        Box Tops

        Labels for Education

Each Box Top earns 10 cents for our school! Please submit in groups of 25, taped to a piece of paper or sealed in a bag. Please check the expiration dates! Expired Box Tops will not be credited. Several times a year, the 2 students who brought in the most Box Tops and 2 randomly drawn winners will be awarded with a gift card!

Labels for Education support arts, athletics, and academics in our school! Please submit these labels by cutting them out and sending them into school in a sealed bag. This year, PTO was able to purchase a playground ball, a basketball, and a jump rope for every classroom using the funds from Labels for Education!

        Moo Money

        Target REDcard

Moo Money caps are located on milk jugs purchased directly from Turkey Hill convenience stores. Collect your caps in a bag and drop them off in the Labels for Education bin. For every 500 lids collected, QE earns $500!

Target's Take Charge of Education program donates 1% of your purchases made on your Target REDcard to the school of your choice when you sign up and opt to support Quarryville Elementary School! Funds are used to support student activities such as Student Senate. Visit:

        • Spelling Contracts

          are back!!!!

On Friday of last week the students received the words they'll be tested on tomorrow.  They also got a spelling contract.  This is a tool they will use to practice the spelling of their words, but it is also a practical way to use and understand their words.  Please help them space out the work on this contract.  They should not be waiting until Thursday nights to get this done.

The score is out of 20pts.  They have 5, 10, 15 and 20 point choices among their options. They also have the opportunity to create an assignment of their choice for my approval by Thursday.

We will resume spelling lists, spelling instruction and spelling contracts on Monday after a two week vacation.  Please help your child to spread out the work over the week.

        • Golden Ticket!!!

Look for the yellow golden ticket handout in your child's green homework folder.  This Positive Behavior Reward System is school wide.  At any moment on any day, any staff member can reward a student for positive behavior by presenting them with a golden ticket.

            Reading Reflection Journals

You should be on the lookout for your child's reading reflection journal or a reading log coming home.

Students are being asked to log AS THEY READ instead of waiting until the next morning.  Since they will read again in school, the journal should be going back and forth daily.
