Weight training- (see hand outs from class)
How do you establish starting weights?
What combination of sets and reps and % of one rep max would you use
if your goal was to increase muscle size? For muscle endurance?
Identify weight training exercises to target specific muscles. Ex bench
press for pecs, curls for biceps
Cardiovascular Fitness -
What do you need to do to improve our cardiovascular fitness?

Pilates, Zumba, Yoga
Be prepared to evaluate each activity we did regarding it's impact on the components of fitness. Which improved flexibility? Which component was improved by playing badminton?
All classes will need to be able to look at fitness testing results, draw conclusions about fitness levels, and list ways to improve areas of weakness.
Use the following information to prepare for your weight room quiz. Be prepared to label the muscle diagram and match exercises to muscle groups.

Open the googledoc Fitness Testing Template ( see below)
Go to file menu and choose to make a copy of Fitness Testing Template - DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES TO THE ORIGINAL DOCUMENT.
On the copied file: Go to file menu and RENAME the document with your name and class period ex john smith pd 6
Close the original Fitness Testing Template
On the new document fill in your test data
When finsihed choose to share the file with me:

*********** Use the tabs at the bottom of your fitness testing doc to find out your percentile score, and if you are in the healthy fitness zone. To find percentile go down the column that matches your age, find what you scored, then track left on that row to find the percentile. The healthy fitness zone is at the bottom of the chart - most likely highlighted in green.
You will need this information to complete the Personal Fitness Evaluation worksheet you received from me. Another copy of that sheet is linked below. This paper is due by Friday!
Your assignment is to find one current even article and complete a summary following the guidelines in the link below. The article must be no older than one month and the topic must be related to health and fitness. No sports articles please, unless the article is covering a fitness issue (concussion syndrome, sports nutrition,etc).
There are three parts to this assignment - read the directions carefully. Be sure to include a copy of the article.
You may hand it in on paper, or you can share the google doc with me when you are ready for me to grade it. The link below will be what I am looking for in your writing. This will be an assessment grade.
