We use the Goldilocks method for picking a good book.

A TOO EASY book:
We've read many times
We know all the words without making any mistakes
We can read it smoothly

A TOO HARD book:
Has too many words we don't know (more than 5 on each of the
first 3 pages)
We are very confused when we read the first three pages
We sound very choppy when we read

A JUST RIGHT book:
Is new to us
We miss few words (less than 5 on the first 3 pages)
We understand the story, even if we have to go back and
re-read some of it
Someone can help us if we need help
Some places are smooth and some places are choppy (re-read
the choppy parts)
